Advanced Vision Correction Surgeries
Imagine waking up in the morning and clearly seeing your surroundings without glasses or contact lenses. Imagine sitting down to your computer and answering emails without first searching for your reading glasses. Many people achieve clear vision through LASIK surgery, but what can be done for patients who are not good candidates for LASIK? Maybe you’ve asked about LASIK before, but were told your prescription was too high, your pupils were too large, or you were diagnosed with dry eye syndrome.
Dr. Maria S. Romero provides patients with a number of lifestyle lenses that can provide the reading and distance vision correction options to make seeing clearly without glasses or contact lenses a reality, even for patients who aren’t candidates for traditional laser vision correction (like LASIK).
Blended Vision
Everyone has a dominant eye. Blended vision uses your body’s natural inclination by correcting your dominant eye for distance, replacing your natural lens with an intraocular implant (IOL), while purposely correcting your other eye for near vision, leaving it nearsighted. In most cases, the human brain is capable of alternating between distance and near vision.
Key Benefits:
- Virtually painless
- Quick recovery
- Safe
- Nearsightedness
- Vision correction is permanent
- Freedom from the hassles of glasses or contacts
- Saves money
Candidates:
- Cataracts & astigmatism
- Cataracts & myopia (nearsightedness)
- Cataracts & hyperopia (farsightedness)
- Cataracts & presbyopia
Refractive Lens Exchange
Clear lens exchange (CLE) is a popular option for patients who are not candidates for laser vision correction and are too young for cataract surgery, but who want to decrease their dependence on glasses and contacts. During CLE, the eye’s clear natural lens is replaced with a synthetic lens to correct vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Because the synthetic lens does not age, cataract surgery will never be needed. CLE is typically best suited for patients over 40 with moderate to severe farsightedness.
Key Benefits:
- Prevent any future development of a cataract
- Helps both near and far vision
- Reduces astigmatism
- Provides a permanent solution that lasts a lifetime
Candidates:
- Astigmatism
- Myopia (nearsightedness)
- Hyperopia (farsightedness)
- Dysfunctional lens syndrome
