Botox Treatments
Botox Cosmetics
Botox is the most common facial aesthetic treatment performed in the US to smooth or prevent the lines that normally appear as result of aging or during facial expressions like squinting or frowning. It is also used to treat medical conditions like cervical dystonia, chronic migraine, lazy eye, eye twitching, hyperhidrosis, and bladder dysfunction.
<strong>Botox by Allergan is the brand name for botulin toxin type A. It is FDA approved and it works by temporarily blocking the chemical signals of the nerves that innervate the muscles and as a result improves the appearance of wrinkles in the face.

Before the Procedure
During the initial consultation a thorough discussion with the patient about the areas of concern and the results that the patient would like to obtain are undertaken. This is followed by a detailed evaluation of the face at rest and with different facial expressions.
* A pertinent medical history and exam will be performed as well.
What to Expect During the Procedure
The provider uses ultra-fine needles to inject small amounts of botulinum toxin (Botox) into the skin or muscles.
The number of injections varies based on different factors. Most patients do not experience significant discomfort during the procedure.

After Care
It is recommended to not touch the area of the injections for at least 24 hours to avoid spreading the toxin to areas that are not targeted for treatment. You can resume your activities right after the procedure.
Although rare, some side effects may occur like bruising, headaches or nausea, or under or overcorrection of the cosmetic issue.
